Untitled / final project of the artist in residency program, Kunstraum Schwaz 2023

This project should be considered as an attempt to to move away from the photographic medium by trying to reproduce the photographic images using other artistic techniques. Considering that I haven't seen my native landscape for a long time, the opportunity to work on the mining topic in Schwaz became for me not only the option to raise this topic and unite two realities (Schwaz and Donbas) but also an opportunity to remember and find in memory these landscapes that I watched all my childhood. Due to the fact that mining is an important component of the identity of both regions, this project is a step in the framework of the practice to develop the topic of mythology and facts around the mining profession, the environment around it, and also the impact of myths towards the regions.

I wanted to deconstruct the common landscape. That is why the project is divided into parts.

Object
glass, paint, and lining for plates

That's how I remember the tunnel I visited in the local mine. It was as if I was again experiencing the blackout we all experienced in Ukraine. The narrow dark environment fragmented with each blink of an eye.
I placed the glass fragments precisely on the substrate for plates to emphasize the relationship between the industrial life of the city and the simple desire to feed myself and my family, because the work of a miner is hard and sometimes deadly. Lunch on the table can cost an anxious stay in the bowels of nature and sometimes life.
